Sweetgrass Braid, Ethically Foraged in Saskatchewan

For many Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island, sweetgrass is one of the sacred medicines. Some teachings describe it as the braided hair of Mother Earth, and it is burned in prayer and smudging to cleanse, invite good energy, and bring things back into balance.
Sweetgrass is also said to help us speak honestly and gently, with care for others and for ourselves.
The braid itself carries a teaching too. One blade of grass snaps easily, but three woven together hold firm. It's a reminder that we're stronger when we stand together than when we stand alone.
