We hand-harvest small sprigs from wild shrubs here in Saskatchewan, taking only a little from each plant so it keeps thriving, then dry them slowly to hold on to that fresh, resinous aroma.
Juniper has long been respected by many Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island, who burn it in smudging and ceremony for cleansing and protection.
